Can lights
Lights

Getting the recessed can lights in was a big step for this little studio...that meant separate circuits on the house panel.

I will be able to create color mood and ambience by switching out different colored light bulbs. I will have at least three colors to choose from...yellow/amber, red and blue.

The ceiling fabric will be tucked neatly and safely underneath the can lights ring...which is not present in these pictures.

Let there be light...

Power

I now have three receptacles on the walls and one on the back wall ceiling.

This allows me to place my clients anywhere in the room without having to run long extension cords...gives me plenty of options to find the perfect place in the room for each project.

The two single pole switches work the back lights and front lights independently.
Painted back walls
Wall color

I chose this green to add to the green pea motif of my studio. I felt this color green was sophisticated and clean looking. This color of green compliments the fabric colors well.

The acoustic panels that will eventually be against the walls are an off-white...I believe the panels will mesh well with this color of green.

Floor color

The floor color was mindful to us of the red clay found in the red rocks of Sedona...a very mystical and spiritual place in northern Arizona. This color will go well with the sandstone color of the fabric.
Isolation booth

The isolation booth has been completely taken apart and stands "in the raw." The floor will be painted the "Chaps Brown" and we will assemble a drop ceiling with 2'x2' acoustic tiles.

This "iso" booth will be used for loud guitar/bass amplifiers. It will also serve as a great booth for vocals.

The concrete walls will be left unframed and "naked" for acoustic properties...they too will be painted. That color has yet to be determined.
The steel beam

There is a steel beam that runs across the ceiling of the studio.

I had the option of just leaving it or dressing it up with a wood casing.
We chose the casing.

This is the steel beam before it gets dressed out.

Wood covering

Chris designed and manufactured these two pieces that will go up to cover the steel beam.

The design and assembly of this beautiful mini-project turned out to be perfect.

The stain color matches the floor very well.

First piece goes up

Getting the first piece up was a snap...so far Chris's design was solid.

I held up the first piece while Chris drilled he pilot holes and then screwed it in place.

Chris screw this piece right into the ceiling joyces...it was a strong attachment.

Once the screws were in place we were ready to pop up the second one.

A watchful eye
Full assembly

The second piece was no problem...it fit up against everything very well.

Again, pilot holes and screws held it in place with a very secure fit.

Chris has some trim he will put over the gap that is between the two pieces.

Give the wood a cleaning, a few touch-ups here and there...

Once that is done, this mini project is finished.

Again a nice fit
